The processing of a mortgage involves work done by third parties such as appraisers, attorneys, credit bureaus, etc. Additionally, local and state government charge fees and taxes. Collectively these fees are generally known as closing costs. Typically, these fees vary based upon the loan amount, purchase price, county, etc.
